Good design is key to making your website achieve it's true potential. If your site visitors don't like what they see, it make it that much easier for them to move on!  More importantly, your website is your Global Shop Window, so it needs to attract the right visitors and then keep them.

However, good design is not the only thing that should be considered. Consider some of the things that we do when we look at a new project for our clients.

"... what's the audience. Who do I need this to appeal to?" - Over complicating a design can put people off using your site and so wastes your time and money

"... i have my design idea but is it practical?" What works in a graphic design scenario may not work so well in a web format. How does it transfer to compliant CSS for example.

"... providing valid code is vital for a number of reasons" - A site that works great in Internet Explorer and 'ok' in Safari on a Mac is not acceptable. A website should be cross browser, cross platform compliant and able to deliver content regardless of its viewing platform.
